Romantic Silver & Gold
Creating Heirloom Traditions
We know you love your sterling silver jewelry as much as we do, and taking proper care of your jewelry is the secret to enjoying it for generations to come. Here are some tips for keeping your Romantic Silver & Gold pieces in their original, beautiful condition.

    Storage

To help prevent scratching your jewelry, we recommend storing it wrapped in cloth, so that it doesn't get damaged by other pieces of jewelry or by folding in on itself.

To prevent tarnishing, make sure you keep your sterling silver dry. There are several ways to accomplish this. One way is to store your jewelry (wrapped in its protective cloth or bag) in a zip lock bag. Include a piece of anti-tarnish paper to absorb excess moisture. Just remember that anti-tarnish paper must be replaced every 6 months or so in order to remain effective.

Many gemstones will fade with too much sunlight, so jewelry that includes gemstones should always be stored out of the sun.

    Wearing

Wearing your jewelry is a one of the best ways to keep your silver jewelry in beautiful condition. Your natural body oils will help prevent tarnishing.

However, when wearing your sterling silver jewelry, put it on only after you've applied (and let dry) any lotions, perfumes, hair sprays, or other styling products. Always take your jewelry off before taking a shower or swimming.

If you like to wear more than one piece of jewelry, try to select complimentary pieces that won't overlap each other or rub against each other too much, as this can cause scratching damage.

    Cleaning

Always use a 100% cotton cloth when cleaning your jewelry, and rub gently in order to avoid scratching the piece. You can purchase special jewelry polishing cloths at almost any drug store that sells household cleaning products, and these work well.

Do not use toothpaste or baking soda to clean sterling silver jewelry. If you find that a dry cotton cloth is not adequate, we recommend mild dish soap and warm water. Just be sure to thoroughly rinse and dry the piece before you store or wear it.

Do not use silver cleaning products, such as dips or ultra sonic products, since these can remove the finish or damage the gemstones.
